Installing and maintaining a green roof from Green Roofs Direct is straightforward, thanks to our comprehensive systems and support. Here’s what you need:
- Structural Assessment: Before installation, ensure your roof can support the additional weight. Our systems' weights per square metre should guide you or your structural engineer in assessing suitability.
- Waterproofing: A crucial step is to waterproof your roof to be ready for the green roof to be installed onto.
Care and Maintenance Tips
- Watering: Newly installed green roofs may require occasional watering until established. After that, our sedum is drought-resistant, needing minimal water.
- Weeding: While low maintenance, occasional weeding may be necessary to remove any unwanted plants that take root.
- Feeding: Apply a slow-release fertilizer once a year in spring to encourage healthy growth.
- Inspection: Regularly check your green roof, especially the drainage system, to ensure it's clear of debris and functioning correctly.
